City Harvest Art Show and Sale
This two-day celebration of all-things-local features, on
Saturday, September 1, from 9:30am until 1:30pm, an expansion of the Capital
City Public Market to the Basque Block and two Arts Harvest Showcase stages
with all local performers and artists. Free to the public.
Saturday at 6pm, on the Grove Plaza, is the City Harvest Local Food Wine
Dinner featuring a ticketed, seven-course, all-local food feast paired with
Idaho Wines. There will be local food and beverages available to the public
from The Local Table, a special guest speaker,
Jennifer Sherman from Chez Panisse, information
about sustainability and our local food system and
entertainment by The Ben Burdick Trio.
Jazz on the Grove
Jazz on the Grove brings quality jazz to
an appreciative audience, while showing off downtown
Boise. At the core of the event is the opportunity to give
thanks to our community for supporting and helping to
maintain a thriving downtown area. The evening concert
on the Grove Plaza, Friday, September 7, from 5-10pm
is free, and food and refreshments will be available
to purchase from local restaurant booths. Free to the
public.
Worldfest
is a celebration of local diversity bringing together over a
dozen ethnic groups. Each will share their dance, crafts, song and heritage
with the wider community. Sponsored by Boise City Arts Commission, this
family event takes place Saturday, October 13, outdoors on the Grove Plaza
and is free to the public.
The Collaborations Project
The Collaborations Project is the closing event for Fall for
Boise, celebrating community and welcoming the winter with dance, music, song
and fi re. Featuring over 100 local artists, this collaboration is different each fall
and always exciting. Sponsored by Capital City Development Corporation, the Boise
City Arts Commission and the offi ce of the Mayor of the City of Boise, this event
takes place Friday, October 26, outdoors on the Grove Plaza at dusk, rain or shine.

Alive After Five Summer Concert Series
Boise’s favorite Summer Concert Series runs every Wednesday,
June through September and is held in the Grove Plaza. Listen

you drop… or just sit back and watch! Either way, it’s a great

Hyde Park Street Fair
Hyde Park Street Fair celebrates Boise’s oldest neighborhood, Hyde Park. Live music on two stages, a plethora of arts
and crafts, and a beer garden and food court highlight the three-day
fair on September’s third weekend. Restaurants, antique shops and
other specialty stores will also be open in this quaint commercial

Museum Comes to Life
Museum Comes to Life is an annual historical celebration which features more than fifty expert exhibitors from all around the state. St. Luke's Women's Fitness Celebration
St. Luke's Women's Fitness Celebration is three
days of fun for “girls of all ages.” Women of all ages and abilities are

Art in the Park
52nd Annual Art in the Park hosted by Boise Art Museum is
the largest event of its kind in the Northwest, featuring over 200 artists
offering varied fare; from fused glass and metalwork, to pottery and
textiles, jewelry and toys! Shop the park, visit the concessions and enjoy
free live entertainment as well as free arts and crafts activities for the

Boise Contemporary Theater
The place is a remote cabin in the wilds of
Alaska. As a blizzard rages outside, a lonely fi gure, Henry Harry, lies sleeping
under a heap of blankets. Suddenly he is awakened by the insistent knocking
of an unexpected visitor, Rosannah Deluce, a distraught young woman who
has fl ed all the way from Arizona to escape her impending marriage, and who
bursts into the cabin dressed in full bridal regalia. “Brilliant Traces deals with

Boise Art Museum
Portland-based
artist, Brittany Powell, creates site-specifi c installations by covering
entire rooms with contact paper and cutting away detailed designs
to recreate rooms from her childhood memories in Albany, Oregon–
from her bedroom to a convenience store to a donut shop. For the
Boise Art Museum, Powell will turn the Nelson Gallery into a Mexican

Capital City Public Market
Capital City Public Market is a Europeanstyle,
open-air market featuring fresh produce from local
growers, baked goods, food, art and handicrafts. This vibrant
and bustling market fi lls three blocks of the 8th Street corridor,

in partnership with Capital City Development Corporation, provides
Performing Arts at the Market, adding live entertainment by local

Ballet Idaho
Ballet Idaho presents Carmen An original full-length production

First Thursday
First Thursday takes place on the fi rst Thursday of each month,
throughout Downtown Boise. The event takes place from 5 to 9pm and
focuses on providing downtown visitors the chance to stroll through the

The Idaho Botanical Garden

Richard Ford’s Independence Day
The Cabin
Independence Day (1995) has
the distinction of being the only book to have won both the
Pulitzer Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. It was
the sequel to The Sportswriter and features the continued
story of its protagonist, Frank Bascombe. Ford is the author
of fi ve novels and three books of short stories. His most
recent novel, The Lay of the Land, was chosen as one of the
